Red Wolfs
This 13 year old female is one of the 8 known (radio collared) Red Wolves remaining in the wild. Previously declared extinct in the wild, the Red Wolf was reintroduced into Eastern North Carolina in 1987. Although the population rose to as many as 200 individuals at one point, the population has declined to only 8 individuals at last reported count in 2021. There are many stories as to what happened to these animals as well as other endangered and extinct predatory animals. Some say these red wolves simply began migrating North disappearing into the vast forests of the Appalachian mountains and still live there to this day. Other more sinister stories say that Bigfoot killed these animals off because they were destroying the deer population which was said to be one of the creatures main food sources. one of the more unbelievable twists to this story say that Bigfoot adopted these animals as pets and begun using them the way we use hunting dogs. Since 2001 reports continue to grow about Bigfoot being seen with endangered and extinct animals as well as other cryptids, leading some to think there may be some truth to the story. Regardless of what happened to these red wolves this one is indeed quite the rare breed, as she is one of the most endangered animals on Earth.
